FUNDISHA FACTS

Fundisha (pronounced foon-deesh-ah) is a native of Newark, New Jersey, whose eagerly-awaited first full-length album, Lessons, will be in stores Tuesday, June 18 on So So Def Recordings/Columbia Records.

"Live The Life," the first single from Lessons, is a contemporary dancefloor anthem already heating up radio airwaves.

Fundisha is the first solo female singer/songwriter on So So Def Recordings.

Producers on Lessons include Jermaine Dupri, Chris Liggio, Craig King, and Ron G.

As a songwriter, Fundisha has penned tracks for Mary J. Blige ("Your Child" remix) and Tyrese ("Taste Of My Love").

As a background singer, Fundisha has recorded with Tyrese and Lauryn Hill, among others.

As a featured vocalist, Fundisha can be heard on So So Def Recordings labelmate Lil Bow Wow's hit single, "Thank You."

As a solo artist, Fundisha was introduced to the world with two songs--"Intro (Live The Life)" and "Insomnia"--from the movie "Hardball."

Raised in the Pentecostal Church, Fundisha began singing at the age of 5 and has an abiding love for gospel music. She fondly remembers singing "Kumbaya" in church as her first performance.

She first discovered her love for writing in grammar school, where she spent time developing raps as well as poetry. Her mother became a preacher shortly after Fundisha graduated grammar school.

Fundisha counts Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, and Nancy Wilson among the classic song stylists who have inspired her in her music.

A powerhouse in live performance, Fundisha is gifted with a rich silken voice equally at home on emotive ballads and funky dance tracks.

Fundisha's neo-soul sound and vibe signal the arrival of a major new star on the urban music scene.
